About
Cotswolds Distillery opened in 2014 as the Cotswolds' first-ever whisky distillery, founded by Dan Szor, an American financier and whisky enthusiast who relocated to rural England. This small batch from 2018 marks a milestone: the distillery's inaugural single malt release, just four years after its establishment. This young whisky displays remarkable composure for its age. The nose greets with soft fruit, vanilla, mineral notes, and honeyed malt. The palate brings red berry freshness and citrus, sweetened by barley sugar undertones and a hint of ginger. The finish is warm and balanced, with toasted oak tannins that linger gracefully. At only four years old, this bottling already hints at why Cotswolds gained notice so quickly: careful cask selection and patient maturation have produced a whisky that tastes considerably older. A rare chance to taste a distillery in its formative years.
