Ian MacLeod's 'As We Get It' is an unfiltered, uncoloured Islay single malt bottled directly from cask as it comes: no added colour, no chill filtration, no standardisation. Each barrel varies in age and strength, so no two releases are ever identical. This is whisky stripped back to its essentials – authentic and unapologetic. Bottled at cask strength (around 59–60% ABV) from ex-bourbon casks, this dram delivers a full, unpolished experience. The absence of chill-filtering preserves all the oils and texture normally removed, resulting in a richer, more textured spirit than most filtered whiskies offer. What you taste is what the distillery made. The nose brings smoke, seaweed, and underlying sweetness—honey and malt beneath the peat. The palate arrives hot and full-bodied, with tar, white pepper, and mint, balanced by honey and cereal notes. The finish is long and smoky, with a lingering warmth that justifies the cask strength. This is a dram that rewards water and demands respect—it makes no apologies and asks for none.
