About
Talisker was founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, who returned from the island of Eigg to their native Skye. The distillery takes its name from Hugh MacAskill's estate—a choice that reflects deep roots in the island's community. Skye itself bears the imprint of Norse settlement from the 9th century, and that maritime heritage runs through Talisker's whiskies. Talisker Skye presents a more approachable face of the classic Talisker signature. Matured for a minimum of ten years in American and European oak, it retains the house's hallmark smoke and salty character but presents them with a softer edge than older expressions. This makes Talisker Skye a natural entry point for those new to peated whisky. On the nose, light pepper and earth aromas emerge alongside sea salt and smoke, with fruitiness of orange and mango. The palate opens soft and sweet, then builds with spice and a buttery richness. The finish is creamy and warm, with lingering maritime salinity that anchors the whisky to its windswept island home.
