Rye
Templeton Rye traces back to the illegal whisky made in Templeton, Iowa during Prohibition by German immigrant farming communities. In 2006, co-founders Scott Bush and Keith Kerkhoff revived this heritage with a modern interpretation based on pre-Prohibition recipes. This 6-year expression is matured in American oak with flame charred barrels and bottled at 45.8% ABV.
The nose balances sweetness and spice: vanilla, caramel and brown sugar meet dry rye spice with subtle citrus notes. On the palate, the rye character asserts itself—juicy apple and peach flavours lead, followed by peppery warmth and ginger heat. The finish is dry and medium-length, with lingering spice and oak.
What sets this apart is the genuine story: a whisky born from Prohibition-era ingenuity, now reclaimed by its founders who have brought actual distilling back to Templeton itself since 2018.
