Rye

Sagamore Spirit emerged from a mission to resurrect Maryland's dormant rye whiskey heritage. The brand takes its name from Sagamore Farm, a thoroughbred racing estate established in 1925 just outside Baltimore. Co-founders Kevin Plank (Under Armour founder) and Bill McDermond tapped into a state that once dominated American rye production—Maryland boasted over 40 distilleries by 1912.

This rye blends two distinct mash bills, each contributing its own voice. The Port Covington distillery uses limestone-filtered water from Sagamore Farm itself. At 46.5% ABV, the spirit carries presence without aggression.

On the nose, toasted malty grain meets spice—cinnamon, clove, orange peel. The palate brings caramel and citrus into focus, with vanilla undertones and a dry, peppery finish. This is rye rooted in its Maryland story: direct, unpretentious, and conscious of where it comes from.
