Nectere

Nectere is a Scottish single malt from Lindores Abbey, a distillery with a singular place in whisky history. In 1494, monks at the abbey recorded the production of aqua vitae—the first written record of Scotch whisky ever. Nectere honours that legacy by maturing exclusively in four different types of sherry cask, creating a complex and layered expression.

The combination of four sherry casks—likely including fino, amontillado, and oloroso—brings together the character of each vessel. The result is mahogany in colour, with a full, rich mouthfeel.

The nose opens with caramelized fruit, vanilla custard, and red apples, joined by subtle spice and wood influence. On the palate, the warmth of the sherry casks comes through—dried fruit, ginger, and a hint of white pepper—with enough structure to balance the sweeter notes. The finish is long and dry, with a lingering spice.
