GlenAllachie Masters of Wood Ex-Solera Sherry Cask

Under Billy Walker's stewardship, The GlenAllachie has emerged from a hidden Speyside gem to global recognition. This 19 Years Old Ex-Solera Sherry Cask joins the Masters of Wood series, showcasing Walker's legendary wood management—a craft refined over five decades.

Matured entirely in ex-solera sherry casks—vessels that held sherry for years before their whisky journey—this expression captures a richer, more layered sherry character than standard cask finishes, while preserving Speyside's characteristic fruit and spice backbone.

The colour is an intense mahogany. On the nose: brandied plum, deep mocha, honeycomb and caramel snaps, with black cherries and cocoa following. The palate reveals plum syrup, treacle and warmed heather honey, woven through with dark fruit, crystallised cinnamon and ginger, balanced by vanilla, caramel and gentle coconut. The finish is silky and long, layered with waves of rich dried fruit and warming spices.
