About
Ben Bracken is Lidl's own-label single malt range, sourced from an undisclosed Speyside distillery and bottled by Clydesdale. The brand exists precisely because the source distillery's identity cannot be revealed—a deliberate commercial arrangement that allows the supermarket chain to offer approachable malt whisky without the brand premium of named producers. The nose presents honey and sugary notes with a malty backbone and hazelnut undertones. The palate brings fresh fruit forward, followed by caramel and toffee with a light peppery edge. The finish is short and dry, with lingering caramel and subtle sweetness. This is an unpretentious entry-level malt. For the price, Ben Bracken delivers honest Speyside character: fruity, sweet, and undemanding. No hidden depths or layered complexity, but solid balance and approachability make it a straightforward choice for everyday drinking.
