Yellow Spot is the long-awaited successor to Green Spot, marking a return to a rich Irish whisky tradition. The story begins at Midleton, where this single pot still is crafted using a distinctive Irish method: a blend of malted and unmalted grain, triple-distilled in traditional copper pot stills. This technique, rooted in the days when Jameson's new make spirit was sold to bonders who matured it in wine and fortified wine casks, defines Irish whisky's character.
The cask composition sets Yellow Spot apart: ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and Malaga casks work in concert to build layers of complexity. The Malaga, made from Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel grapes, adds a subtle fruitiness uncommon in standard Irish whiskeys.
In the glass, cut grass, tropical fruit, and dry oak rise together. The palate builds on classic pot still foundations, layering sweetness and spice—macadamia, coconut, pears, apples, dried fruits—held together by firm oak. A whisky that rewards patience and attention.
