Rye
FEW Spirits was founded in 2011 by Paul Hletko in Evanston, Illinois—a city where Prohibition silenced distilleries for over a century. The name FEW honours that history: the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard, a temperance movement advocate. This rye whiskey reflects Hletko's craft philosophy: a mashbill of 70% rye, 20% corn, and 10% malted barley, all sourced from local farms within 100 kilometres of the distillery.
Matured for three years, this rye demonstrates what young American craft distilling can achieve. The nose opens with grass and assertive rye grain, followed by honey and cinnamon. The palate reveals citrus and pear, with a peppery ginger spice that lingers on the lips. The finish is elegant and restrained—proof that FEW refuses to cut corners despite its youth.
