Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 by Stewart & Galbraith Company as Scotia distillery in Campbeltown, and that heritage runs through every bottle. The Double Cask is the entry point to the core range: matured first in first-fill bourbon barrels, then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The combination produces something distinctive. This is not a shy dram — the nose is immediate and bold, layering toffee, vanilla and baking spice alongside the maritime salt spray characteristic of Campbeltown. Apple and pear emerge underneath, joined by dried fruit from the sherry influence.
The palate mirrors that directness: spicy, sweet and fruity in one. Toffee and honey, woody structure, black pepper and warming spices from the PX casks. The finish is salty and persistent — not a delicate closure, but a whisky that demands attention.
