Glenfarclas stands as one of Scotland's rare family-owned distilleries, in the hands of the Grant family since 1836. Its name means 'valley of the green grass'—an apt description for the fertile Speyside landscape where it sits on the River Spey. This 17-year expression is matured entirely in exclusive oloroso sherry casks sourced from the renowned José y Miguel Martín bodega, a detail that shapes the whisky's character throughout.

Maturation in sherry wood delivers a full, rich palate without cloying sweetness. Dried fruits—particularly raisins—lead the charge, supported by malty undertones and subtle, warm oak. The finish deepens with sherry influence, balanced by drying, leathery notes that add complexity and prevent one-dimensional sweetness.

This is a measured, mature Speyside that shows more finesse than its younger siblings. Not a sherry bomb, but a whisky with layered flavour and enough body to justify the time invested in it.
