Blue Label, Ghost and Rare
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare is a limited-edition blend that draws its identity from an unusual composition: eight whiskies, three sourced from Scotland's closed 'ghost distilleries' and five from rare or underutilised working distilleries. Each release is hand-selected by Master Blender Jim Beveridge, with the choice of ghost distilleries rotating between editions—Port Ellen, Pittyvaich, Port Dundas, Glenury Royal, and others—turning each bottling into a snapshot of Scotch whisky history.
This approach elevates Ghost and Rare beyond a standard premium blend. It becomes a liquid archive of distilleries no longer in production, with every numbered bottle serving as a tangible link to closed chapters of Scottish whisky-making.
On the nose, waxy orchard fruits—apple, pear, grilled pineapple—mingle with almond and hazelnut draped in caramel and dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied and silky, delivering poached fruit, heather honey, and gentle baking spice layered over mellow oak. A subtle smokiness threads through the finish, adding refinement without overwhelming the blend's inherent sweetness and fruit-forward character.
