Arran Sherry Cask The Bodega

The Bodega represents a deliberate single-cask strategy for Lochranza Distillery: since autumn 2019, it has been matured exclusively in sherry hogsheads sourced from the wine cellars (bodegas) of Jerez, Spain. The name is literal—this is not a blend of cask types, but a focused expression built around authentic Spanish sherry influence.

Bottled at natural cask strength (55.8% ABV), the whisky carries the full weight of its maturation without dilution. The high ABV anchors the fruit and allows the sherry to speak without compromise.

On the nose: dried stone fruit (dates, figs, raisins) mingles with fresh citrus (orange, tangerine), red berries, and plums, layered beneath roasted nuts and a whisper of ginger. The palate arrives thick and juicy, balancing dark fruit (blackcurrant, prunes) against lighter notes (peach, mango, green apple) and caramelised toffee. The finish is medium, allowing classic Arran malt and citrus to emerge from behind the sherry.
