Distillers Edition 2023

Talisker was founded in 1830 by Hugh MacAskill, who named the distillery after his estate on the Isle of Skye. The Distillers Edition belongs to an annual series in which Diageo's Classic Malts releases a fresh expression each year. This 2023 release follows the established formula: initial maturation in ex-bourbon hogsheads, followed by a secondary maturation in ex-Amoroso sherry casks.

The interplay between Talisker's signature peppery peat and the sweet, fruity character imparted by Amoroso sherry creates an engaging contrast. The nose reveals toffee and vanilla initially, with increasing peaty smoke as it opens. The palate brings burnt apple, dried raspberries, tart citrus, and a gentle smoke presence. The finish is lengthy, marked by black pepper, vanilla, char, and a distinctive saline note.
