2011 Distillers Edition

Superstition
Glenturret, established in 1775 in Perthshire, holds the distinction of Scotland's oldest working distillery. This 15-year-old expression embodies the house philosophy: maturation in refilled casks, allowing the spirit's inherent character to shine without being overwhelmed by fresh oak. The result is a whisky of maturity and depth, sidestepping the heavy tannins that can mark younger releases.
The foundation rests on American and European oak, with a portion aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This combination delivers rich, layered flavours without pushing the whisky into overt sherry territory.
On the nose: roasted barley, aniseed, and dried apricot with a subtle leathery undertone. The palate brings an oily texture, sweet ginger, toffee apple, and sultana, but finishes tannic and drying—classic Highland structure. A whisky for those who favour subtlety over spectacle.
