Tamnavulin means 'mill on the hill' in Gaelic—a nod to the historical carding mill that still stands on the distillery grounds. Founded in 1966 by Invergordon Distillers during Speyside's post-war expansion, it was initially built for blending. This Sherry Cask Edition demonstrates how Tamnavulin has matured as a single malt: initial maturation in American oak ex-bourbon casks followed by a finishing period in three types of ex-oloroso sherry casks.
The result is a deep amber spirit with an immediately fruity and sweet nose. Glazed nectarines and toffee form the core, joined by hints of orange, vanilla and ginger spice. On the palate, a silky texture unfolds—sticky honey, dark caramel, red apples and a touch of almond. The finish is soft and relatively short, lingering with sugary oak and red fruit notes.
