Distiller's Select

4.5 out of 5 (1 review)

Woodford Reserve's story begins in 1812 at a National Historic Landmark in Woodford County, Kentucky, where the craft of bourbon-making took root. The distillery remains one of the smallest and oldest in the state, distinguished by its use of pot stills for triple distillation — a rare practice in bourbon production. The Distiller's Select is the flagship expression, built on a distinctive mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley.

This grain composition yields a whiskey containing over 200 detectable flavor notes. On the nose: dark fruit, vanilla, and citrus emerge first. The palate shows prominent oak and spice, layered with toffee, caramel, and hints of honey and tobacco. The finish is smooth and rounded, with gentle warmth and lingering wood spice.

At 43.2% ABV, the alcohol sits comfortably — approachable for everyday sipping yet concentrated enough to reward closer inspection. This is a well-mannered bourbon that doesn't demand ceremony but repays curiosity.
