10 years Local Barley
About
Arran's 10 Years Local Barley celebrates a distinctive terroir, crafted entirely from barley grown on the Isle of Arran itself. This exceptional approach yields a fruitier new make spirit than conventional distillation, creating a whisky of genuine character. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels with a small portion of ex-sherry casks, it embodies the classic whisky profile of malt, floral notes, and vibrant fruit. The nose reveals playful citrus—kumquat and candied orange slices—with fresh citrus juice bringing juicy vibrancy. The palate is creamy and vanilla-esque, with juicy apples, oranges, and cantaloupe taking centre stage, complemented by honeyed sweetness and a touch of ginger. Oak and vanilla accentuate the complex, oily mouthfeel. The medium-length finish is pleasantly dry, with lingering fruit and spice that showcase this youthful single malt's impressive depth and balance.
