Peated
Dunville's vanished from the Irish whiskey map in 1936, but was revived six years ago by Echlinville Distillery in Belfast. The Three Crowns Peated is a distinctive take on bringing smokiness to Irish whiskey — without peated barley. Instead, the blend matured in casks previously used for smoky whiskeys, imparting a subtle, characteristic peat influence that is uncommon in Irish whiskey.
The blend combines single grain whiskey with a 10-year-old single malt and 15-year-old single malt. The result is a lightly smoky, layered dram that doesn't attempt to mimic Scottish peated malts, but charts its own course.
