Marsala Cask Finish
Single Pot Still
Writers' Tears emerged from Bernard Walsh's commitment to world-class Irish whiskey — a passion he has pursued since founding Walsh Whiskey in 1999. The brand is a deliberate homage to the golden age of 19th-century Irish whiskey, when pot still distillation lay at the heart of the craft.
This expression marries triple-distilled single pot still with single malt, both aged in American oak bourbon casks before finishing in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. That layered maturation—bourbon first, then sherry—builds sweetness and colour while preserving the pot still's natural spice and depth.
On the nose: candied fruit and caramelised nuts, with hints of baked apple and toffee. The palate is full-bodied and fruity, with orchard notes, citrus zing, and warming spice. The finish is long and warming, leaving behind the stamp of both traditions that make it.
