Islay Storm remains one of whisky's enduring mysteries—its source distillery deliberately undisclosed. Introduced in 2005 by CS James & Sons, a subsidiary of Highlands & Islands, the whisky has carved out a following among Islay enthusiasts drawn to its enigmatic character.
The exact blend is closely guarded, though speculation suggests a marriage of multiple Islay distilleries. Matured for a minimum of six years and bottled at 40% ABV, it prioritises accessibility without sacrificing presence.
On the nose, smoke and peat emerge alongside vanilla sweetness and orchard fruit. The palate brings together smoke and black pepper with saline and iodine notes—hallmarks of the island's maritime influence. The finish is long and creamy, with smoke and spice lingering as the dram fades.
