Aberfeldy was established in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons, originally to supply whisky for their renowned White Label blend. This 20-year-old Exceptional Cask demonstrates what the distillery achieves when focused entirely on single malt craft. The spirit matured for fifteen years in bourbon casks before spending its final five years in first-fill sherry casks.
The dual-cask approach creates a multi-layered character. Bourbon maturation provides structure and subtle oak influence, while the sherry finish adds depth and richness without overwhelming the underlying malt character.
On the nose: roasted grain, dark chocolate, raisin, and orange peel. The palate reveals honeycomb sweetness and caramel, layered with warm spices—cinnamon, nutmeg—and a dry oakiness. The finish is long and warming, with lingering dried fruit and a hint of smoke.
