Glen Orchy

Glen Orchy is a blended malt from Lidl's range that proves quality need not command a premium price. The name draws from Glen Orchy valley in Argyll and Bute, a region historically absent from Scotland's distillery map – making this whisky a blend of single malts sourced across several Scottish regions. Grain-free and composed entirely of malt, it follows the classical blended malt format.

The nose opens with honey, vanilla, and soft toffee, backed by citrus zest—orange and lemon peel. American oak sits alongside a surprising hint of peat, reminiscent of Caol Ila. Light-bodied on the palate, it doesn't lack flavour: toffee, caramel, honey, and oaky spice weave through without heaviness or pretension.

This is a whisky that wears its youth honestly. Accessible, straightforward, and at its price point, unbeatable.
