Machrie Moor

Rum Rebel
Jura Distillery was founded in 1810 by members of Clan Campbell and has been operated by Whyte & Mackay since 1963. The name reflects the island's small population of 212 inhabitants in the Inner Hebrides. This 12-year-old single malt is matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, producing an approachable, unpeated whisky with warm character.
The nose opens with sweet malt and honeyed notes, followed by hints of wood and sawdust. On the palate, dried fruit—prunes and raisins—emerges alongside toffee and brown sugar. The sherry influence brings roasted walnut and caramel, while peach and citrus provide fresh counterpoint. The finish is soft and warming, with a whisper of smoke that rounds out the profile.
This is an uncomplicated, friendly whisky suited to unhurried enjoyment without pretension.
