About

Compass Box, founded in 2000 by John Glaser, set out to reinvent blended Scotch whisky on its own creative terms. Glasgow Blend pays homage to Aeneas MacDonald's influential 1930s book 'Whisky', celebrating the art of blending and the historical taste preferences of Glasgow drinkers. The blend draws more than 65% single malt from five Scottish distilleries—chiefly Clynelish, Dailuaine and Teaninich from the Highlands—combined with Cameronbridge grain whisky and finished across six different cask types. Heavily peated Laphroaig brings smoke and grip; maturation in Oloroso sherry butts contributes fruitcake depth and spice. On the nose, buttery malt meets smoke, vanilla and a hint of salt. The palate is full and warming, with cashew, honey and fresh fruit balanced against peaty minerality. The finish is sweet and lingering—Scottish shortbread, sticky apricots and winter spices fade slowly, leaving a dry, smoky echo.
