The Costal Blend

Fresh Monkey
Classic
Haran means 'valley' in Basque — a tribute to the Ayala Valley where Destilerías Acha has stood since 1831. This family-owned producer, now in its fifth generation, spent decades making vermouth and pacharán before turning to whisky. The Classic 8 Years follows a recipe dating to 1880, anchoring the distillery's long regional heritage.
What sets this whisky apart is its barley-drying method: wood smoke rather than peat smoke. This subtle distinction gives Haran a different profile than traditional Scottish malts — less smoky, with emphasis on wood and spice. It is a young, unpretentious dram that doesn't demand much of the drinker.
The nose reveals mild citrus, malt, and a hint of pepper. On the palate, the whisky is clean and restrained, with vanilla and oak providing the backbone. The finish is short and dry, centred on malt — no grand finale, but honest and easy to enjoy.
