Aberlour was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, a grain merchant who drew water from St. Drostan's Well—named after an early Columban monk. This 2005 vintage, bottled from a single sherry cask, represents Speyside at its most assured: full maturity without rush.

Fourteen years in sherry wood have yielded a whisky of deep, structured character. The cask is everything here—the sherry has become fully integrated into the spirit, creating a silky mouthfeel and an alcohol strength of 55.2% that sits comfortably in the frame.

The nose opens with ripe stone and dried fruits, underpinned by walnut, leather, and roasted grain. The palate echoes this richness: sweet, creamy, layered with toffee and caramel, punctuated by citrus brightness and fine wood structure. The finish is dignified and sustained, with warmth and a dry, nourishing fade.
