Double Cask Matured 14y
About
Aberlour was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, a grain merchant from the village of Aberlour, nestled at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Speyside. The Double Cask Matured range embodies the distillery's signature approach: a deliberate pairing of American and Spanish oak that together produces a full, fruit-driven character. This 14-year-old is matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks—a dual maturation that amplifies the spirit's natural sweetness without overwhelming it. The modest 40% ABV keeps the dram approachable yet substantial. The nose reveals apple, plum, and honey, followed by vanilla and gentle spice. The palate is soft and creamy—a whisky that appeals through balance rather than complexity. This is Speyside as intended: straightforward, unpretentious, and built to drink.
