About

Compass Box was founded in 2000 by American entrepreneur John Glaser, a former marketing director at Johnnie Walker, with the explicit aim to challenge Scotch whisky convention. ARTIST 7th Edition embodies that irreverent spirit: a blended malt combining three single malts from across Scotland — Clynelish from the Highlands, Linkwood and Balmenach from Speyside — each selected to build a distinctive character. The nose opens with honey and vanilla, followed by apple and subtle spice. The overall impression is refreshingly sweet, without the heaviness typical of many blended malts. On the palate, a complex tapestry unfolds: toffee and caramel form the core, with dark chocolate and dried fruits adding depth. The mouthfeel is notably creamy — a signature of Compass Box's careful assembly. The finish is long and warming, where the sweet notes evolve into something more layered and sustained. No sharp edges, no metallic aftertaste — just a mellow close that hints at why Glaser's approach to blending, where visual identity and flavor innovation converge, has reshaped the Scotch landscape.
