Kavalan, Taiwan's first privately owned whisky distillery, was founded in 2005 by Tien-Tsai Lee of the King Car Group. The name honours the indigenous Kavalan people who once inhabited the Yilan Plain. The distillery harnesses Taiwan's distinctive climate—intense humidity and glacial meltwater from Snow Mountain—to craft whiskies with pronounced character. Distillery Select No. 1 serves as an accessible entry point into Kavalan's range, showcasing the distillery's approach to cask selection and blending.

Matured in sherry and bourbon casks, the spirit strikes a balance between sweetness and fruit-forward character. At 40% ABV, this no-age-statement expression is approachable and refined.
