The Grain 2023

Nikka The Grain 2023 is the third release in the Discovery series, launched in 2021 to mark Nikka's ninetieth anniversary. This bottling assembles grain whiskies from four of Nikka's distilleries: Miyagikyo, the now-closed Nishinomiya, Moji and Satsuma Tsukasa. It offers a rare window into Nikka's mastery of grain whisky — a category in which the Japanese producer has long excelled.

The blend draws together seven distinct grain whisky styles, yielding a spirit of remarkable softness and composure. The nose opens with vanilla, ripe pear and subtle banana, followed by developing nutty aromas. On the palate, toffee-like sweetness emerges alongside soft oak and a gentle nuttiness that threads through the finish, with an almost oily texture that speaks to careful maturation.
