Goalong was founded in 2011 by Mr. Kailang Gao, whose name translates to 'move forward courageously'—an apt motto for a producer aiming to establish Chinese whisky as a homegrown alternative to imported spirits. After two decades working in whiskey blending, Gao established his distillery in Hunan, south-central China, a region marked by dramatic temperature swings that accelerate maturation.
This blended whisky matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks. Hunan's significant temperature variation drives intense interaction between spirit and wood, yielding complex character from the outset of aging.
Gold in colour, the nose presents malty sweetness, soft creaminess, a whisper of smoke, and oak. The palate is rounded and nutty with well-balanced tannins and oak. The finish delivers a light smoky note—restrained and pleasant, without pretension.
