Bholsa

Ardnahoe is Islay's newest distillery, founded in 2018 by Stewart Laing and his sons Andrew and Scott, behind the independent bottler Hunter Laing & Co. Bholsa, one of their first limited edition releases, takes its name from caves near the distillery—a whisky that announces the ambitions of a young operation without apology.

Bholsa is matured predominantly in ex-Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, complemented by ex-Bourbon barrels. This combination delivers deep colour and fruity character. Bottled at 50% ABV without age statement, it speaks uncompromised—full and intense.

The nose presents maritime character, red fruit, walnuts and orange zest, layered with peat smoke. The palate brings honey, toffee and a faint meaty note, joined by pepper and typical Islay smoke. The finish is long and peppery, with fine peat smoke lingering.
