Glen Scotia is one of only three distilleries remaining in Campbeltown, established in 1832. This 12 Years Old marks a significant addition to the core range: matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, with no finishing or blending of wood types. That single-cask approach lets the whisky's character stand on its own.
The bourbon influence is unmistakable—vanilla, honey, and caramelised sugar form a solid foundation. Yet Campbeltown asserts itself too: soft maritime notes and a whisper of sea salt add depth without heaviness. Tropical accents like pineapple and mango bring refinement.
In the glass, a pleasing balance emerges. The palate delivers citrus freshness and dry spice, while the finish leaves salt and pepper—distinctly Campbeltown. This is a no-nonsense whisky that convinces through both its simplicity and its structure.
