Shanky's Whip

Single Barrel Amburana
John Dewar opened a small shop in Perth in 1846, building it around the careful selection and blending of whiskies—a pioneering approach to blended Scotch at a time when single malts dominated. The 18 Years Old carries that legacy: crafted by Master Blender Tom Aitken, it draws from some of the oldest casks in the reserves, with every component aged a minimum of 18 years.
Maturation spans ex-bourbon and sherry casks, giving the blend its depth. After that extended ageing, the components are married in a vat—a final step that adds refinement and cohesion.
The whisky presents a deep amber hue with a warm glow. The nose offers heather honey, toffee, and vanilla, with hints of dark chocolate. The palate is smooth and creamy, with orchard fruit—juicy apples and pears—and a touch of grassy freshness, the grain whiskies keeping it light and approachable. The finish is soft, though the grain alcohol becomes more noticeable as it fades.
