Cardhu's story begins in 1811 when John Cumming and his wife Helen leased the Cardhu farm. Helen earned the distinction of 'The First Woman of Whisky' — a recognition of her role in founding one of Speyside's oldest distilleries, officially licensed in 1824. The distillery's name derives from Gaelic 'Carn Dubh', meaning black stone.
Amber Rock takes its name from the warm, liquid-amber hue created by double maturation in toasted American oak casks. This non-age-stated expression balances approachability with genuine character.
On the nose, vanilla and citrus lead, with undertones of pear and white chocolate. The palate is soft and fruity, layering citrus with subtle oak spice and a hint of caramel sweetness. The finish is clean and gently drying, with bitter orange and oak tannins that fade without harshness. A whisky that works equally well neat with a splash of water or over ice, revealing fresh, fruity notes as it opens up.
