Land Cask

4.8 out of 5 (1 review)

Aerstone is a young brand from William Grant & Sons, created to offer two complementary single malts: one aged on the coast, one inland. Land Cask distinguishes itself through lightly peated malt, matured in warehouses inland in Ayrshire. This contrast with the unpeated Sea Cask makes Land Cask the more robust of the pair.

Matured at the same distillery (Ailsa Bay) with the same mash bill but with added peat, Land Cask delivers a 'dirty' smoke character—more coal tar than clean smoke. On the palate, anise, cinnamon, and roasted brown sugar emerge, supported by honey and vanilla. The finish is dry and smoky, with charcoal and oak notes that linger.

This is an approachable, everyday drinker—uncomplicated but with enough character to hold interest. For those seeking a lightly peated Scotch single malt without fuss.
