The Dutch Kumbha

Amrut releases The Dutch Kumbha as an exclusive bottling for the Dutch market. The name draws from Sanskrit, referring to a sacred vessel — in Hindu mythology, the pot that held the nectar of immortality. A fitting nod to Amrut itself, which translates to "nectar of the gods." Founded in 1948, the distillery sits at roughly 1,000 metres above sea level in Bangalore. That elevation, combined with an angel share of 12–15%, accelerates maturation far beyond typical Scotch timescales.

The whisky matures first in bourbon casks, then finishes in oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV without colouring or chill filtration, in a compact 500ml format.

On the nose: warm vanilla, ripe peach and crêpe suzette, with spice, unripe tropical fruit, citrus zest and ginger. The palate delivers citrus, cinnamon, black pepper and stone fruit, rounded by caramel and a creamy mouthfeel. The finish shows chilli flakes, black pepper, cinnamon and citrus. Tropical, citrus-forward and with genuine spice — an engaging whisky at its price.
