Wire Works occupies a 19th-century former wire works in Derbyshire, where the distillery team distinguishes itself through local barley, a bespoke yeast strain rooted in the region's brewing heritage, and custom copper pot stills. This Virgin Oak Single Cask is a The Whisky Shop exclusive, limited to just 238 bottles drawn from the very first parcel of virgin oak casks filled at White Peak Distillery. The spirit began maturation in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in virgin oak. At 57% ABV, it's bottled at full cask strength, non-chill-filtered, exactly as it left the barrel. The nose carries fruit, bonfire toffee, and vanilla. The palate is rich and full, with that same fruit-forward warmth supported by a lightly peated backbone that adds depth without dominating. The finish lingers satisfyingly. A whisky that reflects both Derbyshire's character and Wire Works' meticulous craft.
