About
Ardmore is a distillery with genuine character — rare in today's whisky landscape. Founded in 1898 by the Teacher family, whose name runs deep in Scotch blending history, Ardmore employs a traditional method: drying malt over Highland peat fires, imparting a subtle, lightly smoky signature. Owned by Suntory but modestly positioned in their portfolio, Ardmore Legacy offers an honest entry point into lightly peated single malt. The Legacy is a blend of 80% peated malt and 20% unpeated — a balance that mirrors the whisky's mild, multifaceted character. At 40% ABV, it feels approachable without compromise. Nose: Moss, biscuit and toffee, with a whiff of smoked banana peel. Palate: Firmly malt-forward, with ashy notes, nutty undertones and hints of green tea. Finish: Medium length, returning to malty sweetness, light smoke and a herbal basil edge. This is not an exciting whisky, but a well-balanced, genuinely pleasant dram with solid value. A straightforward introduction to lightly peated Highland character.
