The fifth release in Chichibu's 7even Gods of Fortunes series honours Fukurokuju, the Japanese god of wisdom and good fortune. This series celebrates the seven gods of fortune from Japanese folklore, each expression revealing its own character. Fukurokuju was crafted from Odyssey barley and matured for eight years in a first-fill Bourbon barrel before being bottled at cask strength (61% ABV) in 2024. Maturation in first-fill Bourbon has left an unmistakable mark: a full, rich structure anchored by butterscotch and roasted almond, with tropical fruit notes adding depth without disrupting the balance. The nose opens with bright, zesty citrus—yuzu and preserved lemon—accompanied by sandalwood and soft minerality. On the palate, a buttery texture carries white pepper and those characteristic tropical notes that define Chichibu's unpeated house style. The finish is dry and layered, with dried fruit lingering.
