Harmony #5 Cherrywood Lapsang Tea

Sherry CaskBourbon Barrel

About

The Macallan Harmony #5 emerges from an unlikely partnership: the distillery collaborated with JING Tea, a British tea producer, to craft whiskies inspired by their single-origin selections. This fifth Harmony Collection release draws its character from JING's organic cherrywood-smoked Lapsang tea—a flavour profile Macallan translated into sherry-seasoned European and American oak maturation. The dual oak approach yields a full, dark-fruited foundation. European oak contributes depth and warming tannins; American oak adds sweet vanilla and toffee. Hand-selected casks deliver a delicate smoke signature reflecting the cherrywood inspiration—not heavy peat, but an incense-like aromatic whisper. On the nose, toffee and dates emerge with warming spice, followed by ripe berries and lightly charred citrus peel. The palate brings creamy toffee and rich citrus with vibrant oak spices and a malty sweetness, finishing with a wisp of smoke. The finish settles into creamy, aromatic oak—no harsh tannins, just a reassuring sweetness.
