First West Explorer Baby Black Corn Mash Bill

Càirdeas 2026 French Oak
North British was established in 1885 by three prominent blenders—Andrew Usher, William Sanderson, and John Crabbie—as an independent grain distillery in Edinburgh. This 17 Years Old is a rare single grain bottling from a distillery better known for supplying blended Scotch, making it an unusual find in the market.
As a grain whisky from North British, this 17-year-old offers a different character from typical malty single malts. The maturation has refined the youthful grain spirit into something with genuine depth and texture—cereal notes remain present but are surrounded by toffee, vanilla, and subtle honey. The oily mouthfeel and full body suggest patient, careful aging.
On the nose, grass and toffee emerge with hints of spice and a light peppery edge. The palate builds with brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla, underpinned by that characteristic grain foundation. The finish is soft and lingering, with honey and a whisper of pepper.
