About

This exceptional 35-year-old Tormore marks Douglas Laing's 75th anniversary—a masterful collaboration between the iconic Scallywag brand and the prestigious XOP Black series. Tormore Distillery, built in 1960 on the edge of the Cairngorms in Speyside, is renowned for its striking modernist architecture and landscaped setting. Distilled in May 1988, this single malt spent 35 years in a single Sherry Butt before bottling in September 2023 at natural cask strength, natural colour, and without chill filtration. Tormore's signature style is light, fruity, and gently floral—historically a workhorse for blending, but increasingly recognized in recent years for its elegant, approachable Speyside character. Three and a half decades in sherry cask has transformed this spirit: the nose reveals dark chocolate, vanilla essence, spiced oak, and candied orange peel. The palate is velvety and opulent, with juicy red berries, warming cinnamon, and honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of wood spice and dried fruit.
