About

The Famous Grouse has produced blended Scotch since 1896, but this 1989 Vintage Malt represents a rare moment in the brand's history: a carefully composed malt blend from three Scottish distilleries. Macallan, Highland Park, and Glenrothes were each aged a minimum of 8 years before being married together, creating a whisky with considerably more character than the standard blended expression. The combination of three distinct personalities—Macallan's richness, Highland Park's complexity, and Glenrothes' elegance—produces a profile that is both soft and assertive. Matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, this 1989 strikes a balance between woody warmth and fruity sweetness. The nose reveals smoky notes, dried fruits, and milk chocolate, with warm Mediterranean fruit aromas. On the palate, sweet and soft impressions emerge, joined by orange zest, nutmeg, and cinnamon, underpinned by vanilla. The finish is long and slightly dry, with lingering wood and spice.
