Buffalo Trace
E.H. Taylor Four Grain

About
E.H. Taylor Cured Oak honors Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., one of bourbon's most influential 19th-century innovators who pioneered modern distilling techniques and transformed the craft. This small-batch bourbon is aged in barrels made from oak staves air-dried for 13 months—a process Buffalo Trace employs specifically to enhance flavor complexity. The bourbon follows Buffalo Trace's signature low-rye mash bill, the same foundation used for Eagle Rare and George T. Stagg. Those pre-cured oak staves give Cured Oak a distinctive character: rather than oak tones overwhelming the spirit, the result is a more balanced interplay between sweet vanilla, tobacco, and dried fruit. On the nose, the bourbon reveals a full, fruity profile with inviting tobacco and vanilla notes. The palate shows the wood's influence—sometimes dry and assertive, sometimes brightened by green apple and brown sugar. The finish is clean and woody, without the harshness that under-seasoned oak can impart.
