About
The Glenlivet, founded by George Smith in 1824 at Upper Drumin in Speyside, is one of Scotland's most influential distilleries. This 17-year-old Signatory Vintage release was matured in a first fill Oloroso sherry butt—a choice that delivers intensity and depth far removed from the distillery's signature light, floral house style. First fill sherry maturation brings weight and complexity. At 60.6% ABV, this is not a whisky that whispers; it arrives with sherry-driven sweetness, spice, and smoke that demand attention. On the nose: malty and citrus notes, ground coffee, dates, and a resinous edge. The palate opens into something richer than the nose suggests—deep sherry influence with berry, fig, and honey, anchored by malt. The finish is long and layered, with smoke, toffee, and a saline thread running through.
