About
Linkwood is a Speyside distillery with deep roots: founded in 1821 by Peter Brown, who used barley grown on his own estate. Despite its long heritage, Linkwood remains relatively under-the-radar — an advantage for those seeking characterful Speyside without the premium price tag. This 8-year-old bottling displays the typical Linkwood signature: dry, spicy, and herbaceous, with an underlying malty quality that recalls beer. The nose brings grass, floral notes, and soft grain, with hints of fresh fruit. On the palate, soft toffee and butter develop, followed by citrus and green pepper — not heavy sherry, but refined fruit notes that carry the full 52.8% ABV well. This is a whisky that demands attention in the glass: not a smooth, accessible dram, but one that doesn't hide its dry, mineral edge. Perfect for those who like their Speyside a touch rougher and unpolished.
