About

Braeval is a quiet giant in Speyside. Built in 1973 by Chivas Brothers, the distillery spent decades supplying spirit for blends like Chivas Regal, yet remained largely overlooked as a single malt producer. This 9-year-old shows why that's a shame: it's a lively, lean whisky that needs no fanfare. Matured in bourbon barrels and refill casks, this bottling retains Braeval's characteristic lightness—green fruit, herbs, and a whisper of honey—but cask strength (60.5% ABV) adds real depth. The mouthfeel is oily and full despite its youth. On the nose, orchard fruit and subtle floral notes lead, with a hint of nuttiness emerging. The palate is spicy and herbal on arrival, moving toward dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is dry and peppery, lingering cleanly. This is Braeval without pretence: clean, balanced, and honest.
